Sale Summary 2009

Strong demand pushed prices to $7000. Buyers swooped on the offering from six studs in Victoria and New South Wales, with all 46 rams offered sold for a $2089 average and prices never dipping below $1000. Macquarie had the top priced ram MD07 0361 sold for $7000 to Bill Pye Calga Dohne Stud. Macquarie also sold the second top priced ram for $4500 to Rob McColl and Family, Meredith selected with the assistance of Richard Edger, Arcadian Woolbrokers, Geelong. We thought we might have to pay even more for a ram of this quality.

Sale Summary 2009 - Inaugural Macquarie Victorian Stud Ewe Sale

In December 2009 Macquarie held its inaugural Victorian stud ewe sale at Elmore.140 mixed age stud ewes were offered and 140 sold for a $349 average. Top price of $500 per head was paid by Michael and Adrienne Edgar Mithril Dohne Stud, Geelong VIC for a pen of 2006 drop ewes. Overall the Edgar’s  purchased 36 ewes for a $397 average. Grahame and Helen Crawford Goldvale Dohne Stud Kingscote, S.A purchased a pen of 06 drop ewes for $400 each. Rob Everett, Rokewood Junction VIC paid $420 per head for a pen of 05 drop ewes and Barnadown Dohne Stud, Epsom paid $230 per head for a pen of 04 drop ewes. Steve Buckland, Winkleigh Tasmania purchased a pen of 2002 drop ewes for $140 per head.
