Kidman Poll Hereford Stud

Kidman Poll Hereford Stud was founded in 1986 by Nelson and Randall Carlow. They named the stud after Sir Sidney Kidman, The Cattle King. The brothers were admirers of Kidman, who put an empire together from very humble beginnings, proving what can be achieved with the right mix of dedication and ambition.

The stud’s foundation females were sourced from both local and interstate herds including Corrodgery, Cortina, Ardno, Yagaburne and Heatherdale studs. Honest value for money cattle were selected with a commercial outlook and hard working genetics that could withstand atesting environment at times.

The stud had great guidance from parents Neil and Jenny (now co-principles) who’s valuable experience helped cut a few corners. Neil and Jenny previously ran the Dulcidene Poll Hereford Stud which was formed in 1982 with females centered around Sevenbardot bloodlines.

In 1992 a move was made by the Carlow family looking towards the future. The Dulcidene herd was combined with the Kidman herd to carry the Kidman prefix bigger and stronger.

The use of AI over the years has had a major impact with our breeding program, enabling us to infuse some of the best bulls in the Poll Hereford breed worldwide into our herd.

Kidman Angus Stud

Kidman Angus Stud was formed in 1994 with foundation bloodlines from Outwest,Calleen, Ardrishaig, Caleula, Circle 8 and more recently  Roseville Park Stud herds. Quality genetics have been sourced with many of the breeds leading sires added to our program since.
Our experience in the stud industry prior to the studs formation has been of huge benefit enabling us to cut many corners and hit full stride faster.
Our bulls have been well accepted at the Midwest multi vendor Sale over the years, selling to a top of $7,500.

At Kidman we are taking a commercial approach, with balanced selection combining traditional traits such as depth, softness and doing ability with the more modern frame, performance and carcase traits.

At our 2008 On Property Bull Sale we were proud in sellingour highest price Angus Bull to date knocked down to local commercial breeders for $9,000

We are proud of our Angus herd and the progression we have made since our inception.

The Carlow family will strive to continue breeding top quality functional cattle into the future with the challenge ahead to advance the stud’s breeding reputation within the beef industry.
