In early 2004 after approximately 14 years of breeding purebred commercial charolais cattle purchased from the 2UP charolais stud, 4ways Charolais was registered with the society.
Established by David and Lynette with children Blake and Amy, we set out buying females from the bunyavale charolias dispersal and riverglen charolais production sales with later purchases from moongool, Gunnadoo, Palgrove and Minnie Vale. In late 2007 the opportunity to buy the majority of nandillyan’s females arose and we secured these as well.
After a number of drought years we decided to relocate and now the stud has its new home at “holywell” Black Mountain N.S.W thirty minutes north of Armidale, where we also run a commercial herd herd of charolais shorthorn cross females.
Our aim is to breed consistent moderate framed cattle focusing on softness with plenty of muscle. In recent years our stud sire purchases have included Moongool Xcalibur X205Ea sundance son bought in 2005 and more recently Moongool Barefoot Radler B352E (p).
Radler, a polled bull, was placed third at Brisbane Royal in the most competitive class – the 20 – 22 months class of approx 30 bulls – had an eye muscle of 139 square centimetres and fat coverage at the rump of 12 and 9mm respectively. Burradon Talisman, Goldies Unbeatable and Palgrove Generator have also been used as AI sires to complement our breeding program.
