About Us

Cherrington Pony Stud is situated approximately 190km west of Sydney just over the Blue Mountains in the picturesque town of Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. 

The stud was officially formed in 1972, breeding and showing Australian ponies with much success. In the early 1980’s the influence of welsh ponies in the stud proved extremely popular and over the years the stud slowly started breeding both Welsh Mountain and Welsh Section B Ponies.

As the welsh numbers increased so did the passion for the breed and in 1988 Cherrington became exclusively welsh.

The stud comprises of approximately 40 ponies including foals. Our selected band of broodmares boast some of the most renowned and influential breeding in Australia and the UK. Pedigrees include Keston Royal Occasion Imp, Chamberlayne Don Juan Imp, Solway Master Bronze, Coed Coch Berwynfa, Downland Chevalier, Weston Chippendale Imp, Weson Gigli Imp, Coed Coch Llabed Imp, Downland Warrior Imp, Mirinda Sovereign, Imperial Juggler and Weston Cottonwood.
