Belgrave Park

In 1992 Belgrave Park moved from breeding Cattle in the Barrington Tops to breeding HUACAYA alpacas.  The love of these gentle intelligent animals saw Jillian search for a location with a more suitable climate for her alpacas.  In 1997 this lead to relocating the herd to Hartley in the Blue Mountains at 950 metres altitude with it's cool dry climate.  The result was happier alpacas with considerable improvement to the fleece which was attributed to the cooler climate and lack of humidity.

SURIS were included in herd in the late 90s. Careful genetic selection using SRS males and an increased mineral organic diet, resulted in further fleece and conformational improvements which has led to Belgrave Park being rewarded with many Championships at Regional, State and National levels including 7 Supreme Championships.  Belgrave Park Kamillo received 2nd to Forestglen Seth who was Supreme Champion at the First International Fleece Show.  Kamillo went on to win First at the National Show that year and Supreme Fleece at Hawkesbury Show.

What joy these alpacas have brought to our lives. Belgrave Park welcomes all visitors to inspect the alpacas.

In 1997 Belgrave Park introduced value adding to the fleece production with the fashion label “Creature Comforts” which is still manufacturing 100% alpaca garments that are sold at our “On Farm” shop.  You can view our catalogue at our website
