Welcome to Bunjurgen Charbray
The Bunjurgen Charbray Cattle Stud was established at Bunjurgen (11 Km south west of Boonah) in South East Queensland in 1998 by Graham Neilsen with the objective of breeding exceptional quality Charbray Cattle.
Graham purchased the property in December 1997 from the Behrendorff family who had been the first settlers of this farm. The Behrendorff family had been small crop and dairy farmers for many years but had ceased the dairying operation some years earlier. The dairy still stands with most of the milking equipment still in place.
The Neilsen family have built a modern set of cattle yards and upgraded them over the past six months. Most fences on the property have been replaced and a lane system introduced so that each paddock is within easy reach of the yards.
The Stud operation is supported by a large 55 megalitre dam as the main water supply for irrigating 20 hectares of cultivation growing lucerne for hay and silage. The stud currently runs up to 120 head of Charbray cattle with steers and excess heifers sold through local agents.
Most of the prime Charbray bulls are sold direct from the paddock where clients can see the bulls in their own environment as well as the sire and dam. Up to 25 top quality bulls are sold every year from the paddock.
