Queensland Country Life reports that businessman and Brahman breeder, Tim Neville, Hilltops Pastoral, Ma Ma Creek has the stud stock industry abuzz with the purchase of two proven red sires, for $165,000 and $150,000 in private negotiations in the past week.
The $165,000 purchase is believed to be a new Brahman breed record. During the past few days the seedstock industry has been awash with rumours of a huge private sale.
Late on Tuesday afternoon Mr Neville confirmed he purchased the full possession of two new polled sires, Fern Hills Kingston 1840 for $165,000 and the $150,000 Kenrol Mr HJ Ray 0366 (AI) (ET) (S).
Kingston is a rising five-year-old, owned and bred by the McCamley family, Fern Hills Stud, Bajool and Kenrol Mr HJ Ray a 29-month-old was bred and sold by Ken and Wendy Cole, Kenrol Stud, Gracemere.
These two sires will join other recent privately purchased 'high profile' red bulls, the $50,000, Mogul Witchita (AI) (ET) (H) and the $75,000 dual purchase of NCC sires, NCC DeNiro 781 (AI) (ET) (P) and Wandilla Zulu.
Witchita, the 2010 RAS champion was bred by Dr George Jacobs and family, Mogul Stud, Maclean, New South Wales while Brett Nobbs, NCC Stud, Duaringa sold his homebred four-year-old DeNiro and the rising six-year-old introduced sire, Zulu.
The latter was originally bred by Lee Collins and family, Wandilla Stud, Marlborough. Robert Murray, Elders Stud Stock Rockhampton, conducted the private negotiations and sale.
Mr Neville has been a pivotal feature at many of the private and multi vendor Brahman female sales over the past few months where he has amassed a large red female base for his new operation near Toowoomba.
At the same time he has been acquiring additional red females in private negotiations and semen in a select number of high profile sires.
